A soothing sweetness
We use marshmallow root for its soothing, anti-inflammatory action on the skin, and vanilla for its beautiful scent.
Description
Marshmallow is a perennial plant which is native to Europe. It grows in salt marshes, by the sea and along riverbanks, and has soft, velvety leaves. The whole plant contains a lubricating mucilage — a thick, gluey substance which is particularly concentrated in the root.
Renowned for its fragrance, vanilla is also soothing and antibacterial when applied to the skin. Vanillin, its main aromatic compound, is an antioxidant and contributes to restoring skin's brightness and softness.
To obtain the infusion, the roots and pods are simmered in hot water, as if to make tea.
